The very earliest of the
Trimline phones made by Western Electric had the round buttons and the color coordinated
dial faces. They were also lit up using incadescent light bulbs that were powered by a
transformer.The transformer isn't required for the phone to operate though. Another fact
about these phones is that they predated the "polarity guard" circuit and are
polarity sensitive, requiring house wiring to be correct in order to dial out. I have
updated all the phones I'm selling here to include a polarity guard so this won't be an
issue.
If you get the phone with the light kit, there is no work involved in
using it, you just plug it in.
All phones are also taken apart, cleaned and buffed, and equiped with a
new cord. They're ready to plug in and use.
