The Stromberg Carlson phone company followed
up their 1443 with the 1543. This happened about the same time as Western Electric's
conversion to the 500.
This phone is sometimes called the "Cut Corner 500". It also
uses a switch hook that can be switched out, converting this phone to a wall phone (you
can see this in the wall phone section).
